Washing Instructions for Karate Gis
Please note: new karate suits may initially seem a bit large. This is because most of our karate uniforms are made of 100% cotton and will shrink after washing. It is therefore important to follow the instructions below to maintain the correct fit:
-
Washing: Wash the gi without detergent before the first use. Wash your Gi after every training session, avoid using fabric softeners or bleach.
-
Temperature: Do not wash the uniform at temperatures higher than 30 to a maximum of 40 degrees to minimize shrinkage.
-
Shrinkage: Unbleached suits can shrink up to 7% in width and 10% in length. The suits are not pre-shrunk, so keep this in mind to avoid disappointment and unnecessary returns.
-
Sizing: The sizes of our suits are adjusted for this shrinkage. The suit may feel a bit loose during the first fitting, but after 2 or 3 washes, it will fit perfectly.
-
Drying: We recommend not using the dryer. If you choose to use it, please note that the suit may shrink by at least an additional half size.
Take good care of your ISAMU Gi and enjoy optimal freedom of movement and comfort during your training!
